We've got a very good working relationship with their team and we both regularly share code and tools.
We hope that the community makes the most of each project and most importantly that they'll have fun while doing so!
For developers, we offer a constantly expanding the API with new things that developers can benefit from to make their plugins better.
Our goal is to deliver an overall "why would you ever use spigot" experience.
I might give Paper a try, but makes me wonder if there will be compatibility issues, as most plugins seem to be built for Spigot these days. We work to fix any issue that arises, by either working with the plugin author, or working our changes to be supportive of the plugin, which ever makes the most sense.
I feel like there is hate toward Spigot also (and the lead developer md5 also), which I do not understand. We put in the effort to deliver the best experience to the community. For example, we understand not everyone is ready to jump to 1.13, so we are actively maintaining both 1.12 and 1.13, unlike Spigot which is no longer bothering with 1.12.Just updating to note about 1.13: I estimate that the 1.13 update to be at least a 75% reduction in performance compared to 1.12 for baseline Craft Bukkit/Spigot.I would estimate that Paper has recovered around 30% of that loss already, with the rest closing in soon plus getting better than 1.12.Same technology concepts, better user experience ;)Yes, All your plugins will still work! And if you do run into an issue, file a bug report and we will do our best to fix it ASAP!While I've noticed a few complaints about the server modding community being split to the detriment of server admins, I'd have to respectfully disagree. The folks over at Paper are doing a great job maintaining legacy compatibility in the ecosystem, while those of us at Sponge work on the new and improved platform that will deliver major benefits with the huge changes that 1.13 brings. You can find out more at our documentation: https://gs Our Discord is at https://gs - You will find our support / discord chat much friendlier and full of experts. If you would like to discuss more, feel free to chat me up on the Admincraft Discord too :)This is probably a stupid question but is Paper basically always up-to-date with Spigot?
