This position is designed to foster critical thinking, advance student’s knowledge and skills through the teaching of various discipline/courses.

The incumbent(s) are expected to provide an intellectual foundation for students concerning the discipline. OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon is a branch campus of Oregon State University.

Position Duties:95%—Administer and teach course(s) term-by-term in one or more of these disciplines; Creative Writing.

Complete course assessment processes and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.5%—Participate in advising and mentoring students: Advise students, be available for office hours, complete record-keeping and minor administrative tasks.

Our mentors in the Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing write, teach and publish across genre; engage in interdisciplinary projects; take care of the communities of which they are a part; and, most of all, approach the twenty-first century writing life with invention, pragmatism and creativity. Geronimo Johnson’s debut novel "Hold it ‘Til it Hurts" was a 2013 PEN/Faulkner finalist. One “Outstanding of the Day” winner will be recognized in each sub-class with three or more entries. Each entry will receive an “A” or “B” ribbon and premium at the judges’ discretion.All Creative Writing written pieces must be submitted to OSU Extension Shelby County by p.m. Submission of a written work for judging will constitute entry in the sub-class. Each entry is to be typed or printed neatly on an 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The entrant’s last name along with a page number should be on each page. Clearly mark entrant’s name, class and sub-class on the upper left corner of the envelope. A paper clip or staple is sufficient to keep the pages together. Criteria used in evaluating entries include: 1) title, 2) appeal, 3) story-telling impact, 4) creativity, and 5) transition. Book 587 CLASS: 28 WRITING AND REPORTING FOR TEENAGERS SUBCLASSES A.
