This means that the text is fully removed, and cannot be copied & pasted out of the document.

If you have material that cannot be included within your document (data, audio, video, hi-resolution images), you can upload supplemental material files to your library submission record (in addition to your thesis document). If you are including supplemental material in your submission, you must also include an appendix within your thesis document, which contains an overall description of the subject matter, credits, and file name(s).

The Appendices are there in order to present supplementary information that will help the reader in understanding the overall research project.

Hence the information in question is non-essential inasmuch as the overall thesis would still make sense if such materials were omitted.

That said, the information in the Appendices needs to be relevant and useful.

This is not a place to “dump” reams of digressive materials.

Often when conducting a long-form piece of academic research, where a vast array of information is in play, there will not be the requisite space or appropriate location within the thesis body to include certain items.

These items might be exceptionally elaborate, large, irregular, or otherwise clutter the text.

You may include one appendix or a number of appendices.

If you have more than one appendix, you would letter each accordingly (i.e., Appendix A, Appendix B, etc.).
