It's not actually that bad, because after a full semester of learning about something you should be able to write a pretty good amount of stuff about it.

Essays are just really long speeches, with formatting and specific evidence stated.
You get this amazing chance to explain what you are thinking and prove that you understand a concept.
If you write that much there's probably some research going with it that you personally did. Once I throw in citations and information from my research, papers usually end up longer than I planned. Just don't procrastinate until the very last minute on a research paper (essays are another story). I know someone whose dissertation was 130 (double-spaced) pages of only mathematics.
Also, my physics papers were usually a lot less pages, but 8pt double column, single spaced, and that's more frustrating because you never move onto the next page..."Writing Major" Haha. Yes, its a shit load of work, but college is your now. Don't you want to retire when you are 55 and take a month of vacation every year?
Unless you're a writing major this sounds dumb and unnecessary.
How do you write that much about a topic and not run out of ideas?I had to write several 10-20 page papers over varying topics, and one 30-page paper for an English class I took (Critical Theory and Practice, I also wrote several shorter papers for it).My freshman year, in my intro to engineering class, I wrote a 16-page paper over alternative fuel vehicles. There's always more evidence/material to write about, assuming you've done an appropriate amount of research on the topic, and the topic you're writing about will be fairly complex. You really ought to work on your writing skills in college as much as possible. The thing is, though, it was my only paper the whole semester and was due the last day of class. The whole semester we were working towards coming up with an academic argument and writing it as we went.As a writing center tutor, I helped out plenty of people like you.Do not worry - you will not automatically write 15 page papers.I honestly hope I never have to do this or I'll just take the F.My longest paper was a senior thesis coming in at 23 pages though I knew an engineering major who had a 70-ish page thesis paper.
